October 20, 2012 - Our maiden voyage to Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood AZ - Jim, Joyce and "Jester dog". So many new things to learn about our new Heartland 5th Wheel. We are quick to realize that we must plan accordingly for our sizable length, but at the end of the day are happy to enjoy all the comforts of home. Dead Horse Ranch is located 200 miles north of Tucson in the Verde Valley. We were excited to launch our inflatable kayak and got our chance in the Verde River. Lesson learned... What appears to be calm waters can change very quickly - secure cameras, truck keys and cell phone in dry bags!! So close to losing it all if not for Jim's sacrificial dip in the river. He definitely passed that test! Overall, a really great first outing.
