John Day Fossil Beds National Monument

We've crossed the state line and arrived at the quaint town of Dayville, Oregon - population 128.

Dayville School

Imagine climbing these steps every school day! Fortunately, today's 63 students are bussed to the newer rear entrance.

Always first to the table - Fish House RV Park

Hollyhocks at the city park remind me of growing up on
Lincoln Street.

Ouch!!

Couldn't resist some pix of these cuties!

One of the many day trips Jim has planned for nearly all our stays, The John Day Fossil Beds National Monument encompasses 14,000 acres and is divided into three separate units. Day one, we visit the Painted Hills Unit. Only .05 miles long, the Painted Hills Overlook and Trail is most picturesque!

Day two, we explore the Sheep Rock Unit.

The Thomas Condon Paleontology Center is a research center, as well as a fossil museum.

The 1917 James Cant Ranch House,
now headquarters for the National Park Service.

Next stop - Culver, Oregon.
